Helen Irene Bradford Nelson, of Little Rock, Ark., died on June 10, 2021. She was born in Higden, Ark., on December 16, 1929, to George W. Bradford and Lillie Bell Rogers Bradford. Preceding her in death was her husband, Montford Nelson; parents; her step-mother, Mae Bell Barneem Bradford who raised her from when she was nine years old; six brothers, Marvin Bradford, Chester Bradford, James Bradford, Roy Bradford, Ray Bradford, and Edward Bradford, and three sisters, Estle Chalk, Syble Kuykendall, and Ethel Cullum. She is survived by her three sons, Michael (Veda) of Cabot, Ark., David (Mary) of Palmetto, Florida, and Mark (Kandie) of Gainesville, Florida; three grandsons, Christopher Nelson of Searcy, Ark., Matthew Nelson of Gainesville, Florida, and Joseph Nelson of Palmetto, Florida; two granddaughters, Maria F. Quesada (Eric) of Houston, Texas, and Jessica Nelson of Palmetto, Florida; one step-grandson, William Russell (Nicole) of League City, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Kole, Kaitlyn, Konner Russell, and Anthony Quesada. Helen was a graduate of West Side High School in 1950 at Greers Ferry, Arkansas. After graduating she came to Little Rock where she spent the rest of her life. She went to work at Westinghouse lamp plant where she worked for ten years. She quit public work for a while to care for her children. She kept children in her home for six years until her children were older. She also cared for her step-mother for five years until her death. Then she went to work for Woolco's at Southwest City mall for five years, then went to Walmart on Geyer Springs Road. She retired there with twelve years of service. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved her family very much. She also loved the Lord's Church very much. She was a member of the West 65th Street Church of Christ. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Dennis Carrow officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
