James "Jimmy" Brice Denton, a strong but gentle man, age 85, passed away June 15, 2021, at Baptist Health Medical Center, Arkadelphia. He was born in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, September 9, 1935, to Buster Adam Denton and Loreda Doss Denton. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janice (Rich) McCormick. Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Sherilyn Riley Denton; one daughter, Jana (Greg) Chandler of Arkadelphia; one granddaughter, Sidney (Walter) White; and two great-grandsons, Ethan (15) and Jonmicah (7) White of Donaldson. Jimmy was a 1953 graduate of Delight High School and a 1958 graduate of University of Florida School of Forestry. He served three years in the United States Army as a medic. Jimmy was a lifetime forester, retiring from International Paper Company, as the Manger of Logging and Fiber Supply Southwest Operations, having been employed 48 years. However, the position he treasured most was serving as an Elder for the Arkadelphia Church of Christ. He was a man of deep faith, family devotion, love and Christian spirit of Kindness and Compassion. As a Christian man, husband, father, and grandfather, Jimmy left a priceless legacy for us all. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 18, 2021, at 2 p.m., at the Church of Christ in Arkadelphia, 1100 Pine St. Burial to follow at Delight Cemetery.
