Willie Bea Norman

Willie Bea Norman, born January 15, 1926, went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2021 at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ralph Adams and Richard "Dick" Norman. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Louise (Inman) Calhoun and her husband, V. O. Calhoun, Sr., her parents, William and Bernice (Keaton) Inman, her niece Donna Walls and husband Keith, and a special niece-in-law, Meredith Widener Calhoun. Bea was born in Crocketts Bluff, Ark., and moved with her family to Des Arc in the mid 1930's to farm rice on the prairie west of Des Arc. Bea is survived by her nephew, V. O. "Butch" Calhoun, Jr., and wife Lynn. She was like Butch's "second mom". Survivors also include Butch's children, Jeff Calhoun and wife, Tanya; Amy Garth and fiancé, Clint; Heather Parker and husband, Shain; Bart Calhoun and wife, Laura; and nephew, Joshua Walls, and fiancé, Brooke; also numerous great-great-nephews and nieces that she loved very much. Also survived by a grandson, Shane Norman and wife, Dawn; granddaughters, Shelly Diane Connell and husband, Preston; Georgia Johnston and husband, Billy; Ginna Norman; and daughter-in-law, Vicky Norman; and numerous great-grandchildren. Also survived by a niece, Robbye Ridout and husband, Wayne; and nephew, James Norman and wife, Cecily; and several great-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bea was a graduate of Des Arc High School where she loved to play basketball. She worked at an Ordinance Plant at the end of WWII. She attended Capitol Business School in Little Rock. She also worked at Des Arc Implement Company and retired with many years of service as secretary with the Prairie County School Board. Bea loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her church and her pastor, her family and her many friends. She wanted everyone to know that she had a great life and was very happy and ready to go home. Bea enjoyed the relationships and fun she had at the Des Arc Senior Citizen Center. Special thanks to the staff and residents and DANRC for the loving care and friendships she had. Visitation is Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 1:30 at First Baptist Church in Des Arc with funeral services immediately following at 2:30. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery by Garth Funeral Home. Dr. Melvin York and Bro. Elbert Pool officiating.
