Martha Wincie Hughes, 88, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021, in Conway, Ark. She was born August 1, 1932, in Five Mile, Ark., near Heber Springs, to Boyd Lynn Davis and Edna Cora Sizemore Davis. After graduating from Henderson State Teachers' College in 1954, she married her college sweetheart Joe Charles Hughes who precedes her in death. She spent twenty years as a proud Army spouse making homes for her family in Texas, Germany, Washington, Panama, and Maryland. After finally settling her family back in Arkansas, she actively participated in her church Lakewood UMC and PEO, all the while baking award-winning pies. Her family was proud of her blue ribbons from the Arkansas State Fair and her awards from two national Crisco pie-baking competitions. You were blessed, indeed, if you ever tasted one of Wincie's pies. Wincie was a mother and grandmother extraordinaire and will be greatly missed by daughter, Jo Carol Ciborowski (husband Phil) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, Dave Hughes (wife Rebecca), and daughter, Lea Ann Hughes both of Maumelle, Ark. She adored her grandsons, Nolen (Jennifer), Andy (Kirsten), and Aaron (Lindsey) Hughes, and her granddaughters, Lauren (Ben) and Delaney Ciborowski. She treasured equally her great-grandchildren: Asher, Kobe, Maeve, Malachi, Wyatt, Callie and Felix, with another great-granddaughter arriving in May. She is also survived by her siblings, Elmer Davis and Esta Dacus, her brother-in-law, David (Robin), niece, Joyce Fulmer (Ron), former daughter-in-law, Krista Hughes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lakewood UMC: 1922 Topf Rd., North Little Rock, Ark., 72116.
