Bill Braswell

Bill Braswell, 84, of DeWitt passed away March 12, 2021. He was born April 22, 1936 in El Dorado, Ark., to Morgan Durrett Braswell and Minnie Kate Clark Braswell. He grew up in DeWitt, and graduated from DeWitt High School. Bill served as a medic in the Arkansas Army National Guard. He was co-owner and publisher of the DeWitt Era-Enterprise for many years before he retired. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in DeWitt. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He passed his love of the outdoors and hunting to his son and grandson. Bill enjoyed being at his place on the Arkansas River, and enjoyed visits with his river and coffee shop friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, James Braswell. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Gravett Braswell; his son, Max Braswell and his wife Amy of Little Rock; two grandchildren: Juliana Reynolds and her husband Calvin, and Jackson Braswell and his wife Ashley; two great-grandsons: Jake and Jonah Reynolds; one brother: Jon Braswell of Russellville; four sisters: Pat Vansandt and Joan Hornbeck, both of DeWitt; Beth Hollanger of Almyra, and Kay Cook of Little Rock. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, March 15, at First Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at DeWitt Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home.
