There are many virtuous and capable women in this world, but you surpass them all. Proverbs 31:29. Today we celebrate the home going of Norma L. Dorhan, 85, of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Norma departed from this life on May 9, 2021. Born November 19, 1935, in Keo, Arkansas, to the late Caesar and Pearlean (Bell) Parker, Norma was the oldest daughter of nine children and affectionately known as "Sister". She graduated Scipio Jones High School of North Little Rock, Arkansas. After high school Norma graduated from Velvatex College of Beauty. On November 17, 1955, Norma was united in marriage to Edward Rochester Dorhan. To this union four children were born. Mrs. Dorhan was a faithful member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research Inc. in North Little Rock, Arkansas, until the time of her death. She worked for the Little Rock School District until her retirement in 2001. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, cooking, decorating, traveling, sewing, and most notably, loving on her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, etc., to all who were privileged to know her. In addition to her parents, her brothers, James Clyde Parker, and Robert (Greasy) Parker, preceded her in death. Norma leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband of sixty-five years, Edward R Dorhan (Chess); children, Edward R Dorhan Jr., of Texas, Norman A. Dorhan Sr. of North Little Rock, Vernon Bernard Dorhan of Texas, and Marlon Dorhan of Texas. Siblings; Lincoln B. Parker, Dorothy Jean Merchant, Glenn Vernon Parker, Tony Parker, Ann Parker, Reverend Marvin Parker. In addition, are grandchildren, Jakori Dorhan, Nique Dorhan, Carletta Miller, Norman Anthony Dorhan Jr., Rachel Poe; great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. Visitation will be Monday, May 17, 2021, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 1 p.m., at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Repast will be held at the Pi Omicron Chapter house immediately following, 2512 South State St., Little Rock, Ark.
