James Mickens, Sr.
Mr. James Mickens, 90, of Altheimer, Ark., passed on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, Texas. Mr. Mickens was born March 5, 1931, in Sweden, Ark. He was the fourth child born to the late Elder Edward and Mrs. Alzenia Mickens of Altheimer. He was a member of the Northside Seventh-day Adventist Church in Pine Bluff, Ark.
James Mickens served our country during the Korean Conflict and received an Honorable Discharge. He retired from Cotton Belt Railroad after 21 years of service.
Mr. Mickens was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Pauline, of 56 years in 2013; one son, one grandson, two brothers, and two sisters.
He is survived by one son, Johnny Mickens (Yolanda) of Dallas, Texas; six daughters: Evelyn Franklin (Lloyd), Jamie Bradden (Carl), and Brenda Bennett (Elgin) all of Pine Bluff; Debra Mickens and Patricia Lenox, both of Dallas, Texas; and Sophia Lewis (Gerard) of Virginia; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister-in-law, one first cousin, and a host of other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at The Judah Restoration Worship Center, 2401 S. Main Street, Pine Bluff, Ark.
A public walk-through will be held from 3-4 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home and Mortuary's Chapel, 2704 Commerce Circle, Pine Bluff, Ark. Mr. Mickens' body will be laid to rest in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pine Bluff.
