Benita Gravelly Terry Jones

BENITA GRAVELLY TERRY JONES, 71, of Little Rock, transcended peacefully into eternity Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in Plano, Texas. Her Christian journey began at Union A.M.E. Church, along with her family. Her senior year in high school was enriched with travel adventures as she toured Europe and Africa as part of UP With PEOPLE. She returned home to attend the University of Arkansas where she obtained both her undergraduate and Juris Doctorate degrees. Her legal career included employment with the Arkansas Office on Aging, legal counsel to SkyChefs in Dallas, and the Department of Labor-Civil Rights Division in Washington, D.C. After her retirement, Benita remained active in the legal profession. Preceding her in eternity were her husband, Bernard Jones, M.D.; parents, Alvin Sr. and Mildred Terry; and sister, Adell Norwood. She leaves her brother, Alvin Terry, Jr., and sister, Mildred "Millie" Terry-Hill (Anthony). Perpetual care has been entrusted to Walton GateWay Funeral Chapel, Inc., "Where Caring and Quality Come First", 2405 South Gaines Street, (501) 376-7188. Private graveside memorial and interment services will be Friday, October 8. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
