Neva Dell Calhoun McKeown, age 98, of the Rock Springs community, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at her home in Rock Springs. She was born December 27, 1922, in Drew County, Ark., to the late John Early Calhoun and Mattie Akin Calhoun. She was the widow of Loye P. McKeown, a homemaker, and was retired from Burlington Industries after 25-plus years of service. Mrs. Neva was a longtime member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church, an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables, and loved feeding the birds through the winter months. She also loved to quilt. She and her sister, Mabel made hundreds of quilts after she retired. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Neva was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Joshua Kyle Moore; siblings, Havis Calhoun, Mabel Calhoun Carter, Rex Calhoun, and Doris Calhoun Coats; a daughter-in-law, Kay McKeown; and a son-in-law, Charles "Butch" Higgins. Survivors include three daughters, Kathryn McKeown Higgins of Monticello, Peggy McKeown Moore and husband, Joe, and Gail McKeown Doss and husband, Kenny, all of the Rock Springs community; one son, Joe Loye McKeown of the Rock Springs community; 10 grandchildren, Cindy Higgins Baumgarten, Tony Higgins (Tammy), Kelly Moore Ribble (Barry), Michael Moore (Michelle), Robert Moore (Amber), Nicholas McKeown (Jennifer), Katie Higginbotham (Ben), Kris Doss (Rebecca), Carrie Aylor (Adam) and Sarah Worosylo (Jon); 21 great-grandchildren, Matt Baumgarten (Rebecca), Zach Baumgarten (Carlos Retamoza), Bailey Hearron (Noah), Joshua Moore (deceased), Elizabeth Stepanovich (Christian), Parker Ribble, Rachel Moore, Ezra Moore, Liam Moore, Teagan Aylor, Rowan Aylor, Caleb Worosylo, Grace Douglas, Sean Erdley, Luke Erdley, Rebecca Erdley, August, Avery and Ty Higginbotham, and Piper and Hugh McKeown; and two great-great-grandchildren, Wes and Sam Baumgarten. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2021, at Rock Springs United Methodist Church with burial in Rock Springs Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 10-11 a.m. Monday morning at the church preceding the funeral service.
