Bettye Jo Bost Bollen, passed to her eternal rest on September 1, 2021. Born December 8, 1931, to C.J. and Hattie Bost in England, Arkansas. Bettye was one of ten children raised in a fun loving, farming family. Bettye met her dream man when Lindy V. Bollen became a teacher at Plum Bayou High School where she was attending in Wright, Arkansas. Married in 1952, Betty was a supportive wife to Lindy while he attended dental school and they eventually settled in Jacksonville, Arkansas, to raise their family of three children; Lindy Jr. (Janet), Lisa Bollen Harter, and Gregory Bollen (Lana). She is survived by her husband of 69 years, six younger siblings, three children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Bettye led a very full life involved in many sports activities such as softball, tennis, water skiing and snow skiing. She and Lindy traveled the U. S. together visiting all fifty of the states either by air in their own private plane or later in life in an RV. An accomplished pilot in her own right, Bettye served the Arkansas Chapter of the 99ers, a female pilot organization. Bettye had many endearing friendships that were developed throughout her life. She had a kind Christian heart and served on the First Baptist Church's benevolent committee extending kindness to families facing loss or hardships. She was typically the hostess for many a family festivity reunion and often proved to be the life of many such gatherings. At the same time, Bettye was never the mother to tell her children, "wait till your daddy gets home," as she ruled the roost with stern discipline and order. Bettye was afflicted with Lewy Body Disease late in life, the second most common form of dementia. LBD slowly robbed her of cognitive function first then proceeded to attack her physically. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the care givers at House of Three that provided support, comfort and companionship to both Bettye and Lindy in the last months of her life. A visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock, on Saturday, September 4, at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial tribute to Bettye's life at 2 p.m. Guestbook at: www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
