RUSSELL WINSTON HORTON of Sherwood, formerly of Delight, Ark., passed away on September 5, 2021. He was born August 12, 1938 to the late Lindell and Leota Horton. In addition to his parents, Winston was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter Olivia Clark. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Horton of Sherwood; brother Roger Horton (Sue) of Benton; his children Kara Newman (Warren) and Scott Horton (Debbie), of NLR; grandchildren Derek Smith, Alex Clark (Josh), Drake Horton (Tori), Reid Horton, and Jaden Newman; and great-grandsons, Lincoln and Owen Clark. Winston had an ability to connect deeply with people. This skill, in combination with his incredible wisdom, led him to create Horton Brothers Printing and H&H Printing with his brother. Through long hours and hard work, he created a successful business that he was able to pass down to his children. Winston also had many hobbies. Through an accidental encounter at a flower show, Winston became an avid beekeeper and honey farmer. He also loved hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Winston was a long time member of Sylvan Hills Church of Christ, where he served as deacon and elder. He also served on the Central Arkansas Christian school board. Winston was a rock for his family. He was known for his generosity and selflessness. He led by example, whether in his work ethic, his dedication to his family, or his relationship with Christ. He never met a stranger and loved bragging about his family. He will be remembered for his love, humbleness, and boisterous laugh. Memorial donations in Winston's honor may be made to Sylvan Hills Church of Christ, Special Olympics Arkansas, and Spina Bifida Association. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 8th from 5:00-7:00 and funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 9th at 10 a.m., at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Ark., 72117.
