Betty Ann Rainwater

Betty Ann (Gray) Rainwater, 87, of Springdale, Ark., died December 13, 2022, at her home. She was born May 19, 1935, in Rankin, Texas, to Curn and Ruth Gray. Betty and Oran married on November 9, 1950, in Waxahachie, Texas. Oran was drafted into the Marines in 1952, which took them out to San Clemente, Calif. After completing his time in the service, they moved to Aledo, Texas, where they began their family. Their firstborn, Randy Oran, was born November 29, 1954, in Weatherford, Texas. In 1956, the Rainwaters moved to Midland, Texas, where their second child, Peggy Rena, was born November 24, 1958. Oran and Betty moved to Springdale, Ark., in 1962, where they resided and were members of Johnson Church of Christ until their passing. Betty was employed as a telephone operator in Aledo, Texas, (almost one year); Tyson Foods (five years); Moore Drop Forge (four years); and First Brands (21 years). She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and one sister; daughter, Peggy Rena James; and great-grandson, Holden Whitcomb. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sharon Rainwater of Houston, Texas; granddaughters, Stephanie and (Dallas) Spurgeon of Magnolia, Texas, Heather and (Bill) Hughes, Holly James, and Haley and (Kiowa) Whitcomb, all of Springdale, Ark.; and grandson, Keith Rainwater of Chicago, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Karli Phillips, Ryleigh and Taylor Hughes, Garrett Spurgeon, Lincoln (McCord), and Levi Spurgeon, Hadley and Haze James, and Hunter, Kynli and Kipp Whitcomb; and her sister, Louise Nichols of Weatherford, Texas. She is remembered for her love of family, her deep faith in God, and her favorite pastime, working outside in her yard, and preparing delicious meals. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 19, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, Ark., with Larry Culbreath officiating. In lieu of flowers, please plant four o'clock flowers.
