Rita Elizabeth Montgomery, 89, passed from this life on October 8, 2022, peacefully at home in Danville. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Born on March 16, 1933, in Atkins, she was preceded in death by her husband and partner of 58 years, Jefferson Robert Montgomery; her parents, William Michael Kersten and Elizabeth Gunderman; and all of her 10 siblings.
Formerly of Fayetteville, she is survived by her four children, Jeffrey, Sheila, Melissa, and Diane, and their families, including many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral mass will be Friday, December 30, at 10 a.m., with a celebration reception to follow, at the Church of the Assumption, 118 Avenue 3 NE in Atkins. A private interment will be held at a later date when she will be laid to rest with her husband at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville.
