John DuBose Naill Jr

JOHN DUBOSE NAILL, JR., 98, passed away at home December 17, 2022. John was raised on the family farm at Biscoe. A graduate of West Point, he served as an enlisted man, infantry company commander and general's aide during World War II and the Korean War. After returning to the farm, his family was chosen 1965 Prairie County Farm Family of the Year. Elected by his farmer peers, he served many years on the County ASCS Committee and as Farm Bureau President. For many years, he was elected to and served on the County Agricultural Conservation and Stabilization Committee. Active in conservation and farm credit, he served at local, state and national levels. Appointed to the Federal Farm Credit Board by President Carter, he served a year as chairman. Active in later life, he was a licensed Episcopal Lay Reader. He was a Brinkley Rotary Club Paul Harris awardee, private pilot, professional wedding photographer, published cartoonist, Caribbean scuba diver, senior tennis player, and a tap dancer with his wife Sally's popular adult performing group. John was preceded in death by Mary Ann, his wife of 39 years; son Bill, and grandson Ran. He is survived by his wife, Sally. He is also survived by his son, John III (Laura Connaway); daughter, Rebecca Reagan; daughter-in-law, Jacqeline Crenwelge Naill; granddaughters, Molly Turner, and Katherine Pares (Michael); and great-grandchildren, Bee, Zev, Julen and Rafael. John will be interred in the family plot at the Biscoe Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
