Forrest Bernie Miller, Jr.

Our beloved Forrest Bernie Miller, Jr., age 82, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away at his home on February 22, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret Miller; his children, Mary Ann Miller Callison, Laura Miller, Karen Viefhous (Terence), Kellie Riggan (Scott), Russell McConnell (Beverley) and Tina McConnell Williams. He is preceded in death by his son, David Miller. He leaves behind 12 precious grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Harrison, Charlie, Scott, Emily, Rachel, Ross, Reid, Lyndsey, Luke ,and Ana Grace; as well as his seven great-grandchildren. As the first physician in Arkansas to be board-certified in addiction medicine, Bernie helped many with recovery and touched lives for the better. He was instrumental in starting the Arkansas Caduceus Group System for recovering health care professionals, and he led the Central Arkansas Caduceus Group for over 20 years. He worked at, and later ran, the UAMS Methadone Clinic from the late 1990s to 2018. He practiced medicine at the Family Clinic in Little Rock for over 50 years. Bernie enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime. He was an avid hunter, photographer, fisherman, scuba diver, ham radio operator, and a black belt in taekwondo. He was also an amateur pilot and loved flying. He dove into all his hobbies as he did life--with passion and enthusiasm. A private celebration of his life will be held at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home on Monday, February 28, 2022. Burial will be in Carlisle, Ark.
