D.C. Huffman, 78, of Henderson, Tenn., passed away Monday, January 17, in Gulf Shores, Ala.. He was born February 18, 1943 in St. Louis, Mo., and spent most of his childhood in Malvern, Ark. He served as a Bible class teacher, deacon, and elder for the Oliver Creek Church of Christ (formerly the Brownsville Road Church of Christ) in Arlington, Tenn., for many years. He was a mentor and encourager to many and, because of his humble spirit, was often the peacemaker in difficult situations in both his personal and professional activities. He also served on the Health Arts Council for Freed Hardeman University and was currently a member of the President's Council at FHU. He loved visiting with students at FHU and encouraging them as they navigated college life and started their careers. During his career as a pharmacist, he served the profession in several different positions, including as a Professor of Pharmacy Administration at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy, interim Dean of the Graduate School at UT, Administration Vice Chancellor for the UT Health Sciences Center, Executive Vice President of the American College of Apothecaries, Executive Vice President of the American College of Veterinary Pharmacists, Senior Vice President for Pharmacy Practice and Management Services for the National Community Pharmacists Association and Executive Director of the NCPA Foundation. He loved his God, he loved his church, and he loved his family. He especially loved his granddaughter and they were best friends. He lived for the Lord, died in the Lord and, by God's grace, is with the Lord. A graveside service for family and those that live in the area will be conducted at Old Texas Cemetery in Guy, Ark., at 10 a.m. January 26, with a celebration of his life being held at the Henderson Church of Christ at 2 p.m. January 29, with visitation at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the President's Council at Freed Hardeman University, 158 E. Main Street, Henderson, Tenn. 38340.
