Doris Jeanette Wenner, 91, passed away at home in Lake Hamilton surrounded by her family on June 28, 2022. She was born in Red Bank, N.J., December 15, 1930, to Thomas and Cornelia Minton Curtis. Doris grew up in Fair Haven, N.J., where she married her longtime boyfriend Edward James "Jim" Wenner Jr. They shared their 68-year adventure together throughout the country, living in Virginia, Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Georgia before settling at their beautiful home on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs in 1970. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by daughter Karen Lea and brother, Charles Curtis. She is survived by husband Jim; brother William and sister-in-law Joan Curtis; sister-in-law Solange Curtis; son Jim Wenner III and wife Christy; son David Wenner and wife Connie; grandchildren Cassandra Lea Evans, Edward J. Wenner IV, Sarah Wenner and Aaron Wenner; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In her last years as Doris battled dementia, she received at-home assistance from the Visiting Angels caregiving service and Hospice Home Care. Her family thanks the staffs of these wonderful organizations, including Dani Edwards, Tyler Whittaker, Megan Bailey, Marilyn Hannah, Barbara Jones, Tammy Hardin, Rachel, Destiny, and Pastor Jimmy Holland. Their loving, compassionate care, especially during the difficult times of the COVID pandemic quarantine, permitted Doris to enjoy life as fully as possible. We are eternally grateful and salute them for the first responder heroes that they are. Tributes to Doris can be left online on the obituary page at caruth-hale.com. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
