Jan Davis, 76, left this world to join the love of her life, Pat Davis, on Thursday, June 30, 2022. Jan was born December 26, 1945, to the late Dan and Ame Christenson in Topeka, Kan. She went from being a Marine Corps brat to an Army wife when she married Pat on June 27, 1963.
She spent the first 20 years of her marriage traveling the world as a military wife. She began her nursing journey at age 18, but paused it to marry Pat. She became the mother of two (Chris and Genie) along the way. With Pat's retirement from the military, they moved back to Arkansas, and she continued her nursing journey. She graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse: she was a loved OB/GYN labor and delivery nurse then went on to be a GI nurse both at Doctors' Hospital in Little Rock, then at Conway Regional Hospital. Her time as a labor and delivery nurse made each trip to Walmart an opportunity for someone to stop her and reminisce about the part she played in welcoming a new family member.
When she retired from nursing, she volunteered at the Interfaith Medical Clinic. Jan was an active member of Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Conway; her activities included Altar Guild Team 1 and she started the "Littles" Ministry where the congregation would donate the littles from their trips to be given to local charities. She was a devoted Arkansas Razorback football fan, especially when her great-nephews played for the team. Jan loved reality TV with some of her favorites being The Bachelor, The Amazing Race and Survivor. She also loved "the Netflix" and "the Facebook".
She is survived by her son, Chris Davis; her daughter-in-law, Glenda Kassaw Davis; her daughter, Eugenia "Genie" Davis; and her granddaughter, Ashleigh West (Randy George); brothers, Jeff (Jane) Christenson and Joe (Ann) Christenson; brothers-in-law, Jim (Patricia) Davis and Jack (Carol) Davis; sister-in-law, June Commer; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Pat Davis; her parents, Dan and Ame Christenson; and her beloved niece, Leanne Davis Deacon.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 8, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Saint Peter's Episcopal in Conway with Rev. Greg Warren officiating with a reception to follow in the church Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the American Heart Association, Saint Peter's Episcopal Church Operating Fund or Planned Parenthood. Jan knew nursing was a calling and a passion. In her honor, consider performing a random act of kindness for the nurses at your local hospital.
