Ann Laura Johnston, age 102, of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022.
Born October 4, 1919, at Harrell (Calhoun County), Ark., she was a daughter of the late Horace Green Johnston and Annie Duncan Johnston. She graduated from Hampton High School and Henderson State Teachers College.
Miss Ann taught school for several years in Hampton, then went to work for the Navy Depot, and finally the Pine Bluff Arsenal.
She was a dedicated Christian and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She volunteered at her church, Davis Hospital, Jefferson Regional Medical Center, and the Arts and Science Center. Miss Ann was an avid bowler, even into her nineties. She drove her car until she was 100 years old, and enjoyed playing bridge, canasta, and other games with her neighbors at Trinity Village.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Alice McKinnie and Billy Johnston.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2022, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Carlton Cross officiating.
