Lyn Dixon

Wallace Lyn Dixon, 57, passed away suddenly on July 8, 2022. He was the caretaker of Willow Bar for the past 15 years. Lyn leaves his mother, Inas Dixon; wife, Felecia; daughter, Janelle Taylor; granddaughters, Jada Hardy and Kylee Hardee; grandson, Cameron Taylor; step-son, Drandy Barras; and step-daughter, Alanna Hickman; brothers, Bryan Dixon, Keith Dixon and wife, Becky, Leland Dixon and wife, Angie; sister, Teresa Doepel and husband, Tim; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lyn was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Hugh Dixon. Lyn was an avid hunter and fisherman, who totally enjoyed his job, of the last 15 years, by taking care of the perfect place to hunt and fish, Willow Bar Lodge. Lyn and his wife, Felecia, have been together for 30 years and loved being out in the country taking care of the land and facilities. With a big heart and whatever-it-takes attitude, Lyn loved getting the duck woods ready for the season as well as raising a litter of puppies. Hank Browne said of Lyn, "When Lyn and Felicia came to work for Cathy and me, Lyn knew about a lot of things, and over the 15 years that we became closer friends and we got to know each other more, talking about our experiences. Because of that Lyn's curiosity and interest about the world, nature, climate, other cultures, grew. We had a great time with lively discussions about so many different subjects. He was a very smart man and always surprised me about the latest thing he had read or seen on TV. Our whole Browne family was very lucky to have met and been with Lyn. Our grandsons grew up around Lyn, learned to hunt with him, learned some new words and we all enjoyed him so much. He was also a hell of a cook in the duck blind. He will always be part of our family." As Walt Davis, hunting brother of Lyn's said, "Prairie County has never had a more colorful individual than Lyn Dixon. If you have ever had the pleasure of sharing a truck cab with him on Hwy 70, you would think that somewhere in a previous life he was a tour guide, for he would tell you where everyone lived and what he thought about them, without reservation. Quick witted, funny and caring will always be used to describe Lyn. Lyn would give you the shirt off his back and remind you for the next two years how it was his favorite! The Bluff will not be the same, the Dairy Bar a little quieter and from Hazen to Brinkley everyone will miss his horn honking abilities, even at 5 a.m., on his way to the duck-blind or deer stand...truth. Rest in Peace my friend. The family will receive friends on Sunday July 10, 2022. Visitation will be at 4 p.m., at the Westbrook Funeral Home until the gravesite interment at 6 p.m., in Biscoe.
