Margaret Ann Goff

Margaret Ann Goff, 90, of Heber Springs died Sunday surrounded by family. She was born April 22, 1932, near Mayflower, the daughter of Earl McGehee Sr. and Lilla Sawrie McGehee. Margaret was introduced by friends to Jim Goff, the man she would marry and with whom she would spend the next 50 years of her life. Together they raised two sons and did their best to spoil their only grandchild. Margaret worked at Heber Springs State Bank, juggling a full-time job with being a wife, a mother, and serving as the primary caregiver for her parents. She loved flowers, cooking and spending time with family and cherished friend Charlotte Hipp. Saturday mornings were spent with the Steel Magnolias, a group of women who met weekly at a local beauty shop to catch up on gossip and who knows what else. It was a life filled with love, laughter, faith, compassion and sacrifice. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Jim; parents Earl and Lilla McGehee; and brother, Earl McGehee. She is survived by son Eddie (Debbie) Goff, and grandson Evan Goff, all of Bee Branch; son, Steven Goff of Sherwood; and sisters-in-law, Nina McGehee of Conway; Jessie Stark of Hot Springs, Sylvia (Bennie) Schmidt of Atwater, Calif.; Barbara (Frank) Dutra of Winton, Calif.; Nina Norman of Atwater, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs, with the service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Cleburne County Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
