James Victor Jones, 89, passed into his heavenly home, Monday, July 11, 2022. He was born June 27, 1933, to Elsie Marcia and Eugene Lawrence Jones of Lonoke, Ark. He served as a pilot in the United States Air Force and after retirement he and his wife, Kathy, moved back to his hometown, Lonoke, Ark. They served the community of Wattensaw running a grocery store and sandwich shop for many years. Jim enjoyed going to church, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and friends and taking road trips. Jim is survived by his brother, John Jones of Oveido, Florida; his daughter, Vickie Aukes, of Lonoke; his grandsons, Joshua Aukes (Amy) of Cabot, Ark., Adam Aukes (Tiffany), and Aaron Aukes (Megan) of Lonoke, Ark.; as well as five great-grandchildren, Lane Aukes, Lyla Aukes, Pryor Aukes, Ava Aukes, and Bear Aukes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Jones (after 52 years of marriage); his parents, Elsie Marcia and Eugene Lawrence Jones; his sisters, Alice Tate, Gussie Pless, and Martha Tanner; and his son-in-law, Terry Aukes. Visitation will be Saturday, July 16 from 9-10 a.m. at Wattensaw Baptist Church on Highway 31 North with the funeral immediately following at 10 a.m. Interment at Wattensaw Cemetery.
