Darrell L. Smith

Darrell L. Smith, 84, of Paola, Kansas, passed away July 18, 2022. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m., Friday, July 22, 2022, at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kan., 913-856-7111. Condolences may be left at: www.brucefuneralhome.com. Darrell was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Pleasant Hill, N.M., to A. Gordon and Fay (Porter) Smith. He was a 1955 graduate of Texico High School. Darrell served in the United States Navy from 1956-1960. He married Texalee Adair on Nov. 20, 1958, in Clovis, N.M. Darrell worked in milk processing for the Safeway Corporation in Kansas City. He was a member of Sandia Baptist Church. Darrell will be missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joan Watson and daughter, Lisa McGuire. Darrell is survived by his wife, Texalee of the home; son, Brad and wife Jennifer Smith, Gardner, Kan.; sisters: Mildred Smith Bostick, Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Koleta Smith Whitaker, Columbus, Kan.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
