Bobby G. Harwell

Bobby G. Harwell, 85 years old, a resident of Fayetteville, Ark., died July 19, 2022. Born January 11, 1937, on his grandfather's farm near Beggs, Okla., to Mitchell and Weda Harwell. Bob was retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years of service, where he served as a Postal System Examiner in Hot Springs, Ark., and as Postmaster in both Elkins, Ark., and Huntsville, Ark. After actively serving in the US Air Force and the US Army, he retired from the US Army Reserve after 21 years of service, where he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class on February 1, 1992. He was a veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm, a Boy Scout master for 20 years, and an active member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Ark., since 1982, where he served as a deacon. Bob loved to fish and read, but above all cherished spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Bill; a sister, Joyce Ray; and a brother, Ben Harwell. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Peggy Lou, married since 1961; his two beloved sons: Mitch (Rhonda) and Michael; two grandchildren: Kellen (Jennifer) and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Rose and Brayden; brother, J.W. "Jake" (Selma) Harwell, sister-in-law, Shirley Harwell, and brother-in-law, Ronnie Rollow (Carolyn); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A private, family graveside service will be held in Oakland Cemetery in Russellville, Ark., under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
