Seth E. Henry

Seth E. Henry, 103, of Stuttgart, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Alcoa Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Benton. Mr. Henry was born March 13, 1919, to Glover Cleveland Henry and Missouri Alice Brown Henry in Mt. Vernon, Ark. He was valedictorian of the class of 1937 at Mt. Vernon High School and a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with an agriculture degree. He retired in 1991 from the University of Arkansas Rice Research Center as a rice research assistant. He was a 2nd Lieutenant Army veteran, 153rd Infantry, stationed in Aleutian Islands, Alaska, during World War II. Being a founding member of Arkansas County Master Gardeners, he showcased his talents around Stuttgart and enjoyed keeping the playground at Gingerich Elementary School tidy. He also volunteered at the Stuttgart Public Library and the Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie. Mr. Henry was a faithful member of First Baptist Church serving as a deacon, worked in church training with the RA's and was active in their jail ministry. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Ellen Bacheller Henry; their infant daughter, Diane; brothers, Hubert D. Henry and George Cleveland Henry; and sister, Mary Lou Henry Prothro. Survivors are two daughters, Mary Alice McGraw and husband Tracy of Stuttgart and Martha Davis and husband Tom of Benton; five grandchildren, Melissa Campbell (Allen), Gavin McGraw (Renee), Megan Frisby (Michael), Ashlee Cross (Josh) and Jeff Davis; and nine great-grandchildren, Aidan Frisby, Colin Frisby, Emma McGraw, Ava Claire McGraw, Lucas Campbell, Madie Cross, Jill Cross, Wyatt Cross and Joshua Cross. The family would like to thank the staff of The Manor in Bryant, Alcoa Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Benton and Arkansas Hospice for their excellent care of our loved one. Visitation is 1 p.m., Saturday, at First Baptist Church with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
