James Henry Earnesty, age 91, of Sheridan passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022. He was born September 17, 1930 in Everson, Pa., to the late Rudolph Earnesty and Ethel Michaels Earnesty. Mr. Earnesty was a Retired United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and receiving numerous merits and awards for his service. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Sheridan and the American Legion. He enjoyed attending baseball and football games, and playing cards with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Leona Crutchfield Earnesty in 1999 and his grandson, Ian Weidman in 2012. He is survived by his daughters Marie Earnesty of Pennsylvania, Tracy Ricketts and her husband Keith of Benton, his son James Earnesty, Jr. of Sheridan, two brothers Matthew Earnesty (Ann) and Vincent Earnesty (Dorothy), four grandchildren, Brian Ricketts (Kaydi), Ashley Luton (Octavious), Courtney Ricketts (Kirk) and Damien Weidman, great-grandchildren, Skylar, Tristan, Kamron, Kingston and Henry and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary following at 7 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2022, at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Sheridan with Father Joseph Marconi officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
