Walter Eugene Scroggs, 90, of Little Rock, Ark., died peacefully at his home Wednesday, May 4, 2022. He was born in Beebe, Ark., on August 23, 1931, to Chalmers and Ora Alice Hayes Scroggs. He served in the Navy Reserve and retired from Southwestern Bell/AT&T after decades of dedicated service. He was a faithful member of Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene. He liked to fish, camp, work in his gardens, and volunteer for his church. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his Arkansas sports teams. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mildred Tidwell Scroggs; four daughters, Brenda Still, Sandra Taylor, Carolyn (Thomas) Scott, and Teresa (Bill) Coffman; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Jay Scroggs of Jonesboro; and numerous nephews, nieces, and their extended families. He was predeceased by 10 siblings, three half-siblings; and his first wife, Maxine Noble Scroggs. Walter's playful side-eye and mischievous grin live on in his many descendants. Special appreciation is given to Walter's and Mildred's good friend Jack Wallis who has been a tremendous support and help in Walter's care during the past few years. Visitation will be 9:30-10 a.m. prior to funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene, Alexander, with burial in Beebe Cemetery at 12 p.m. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. www.smithfamilycares.com Thomas Scott, Doug Scroggs, Chris Taylor, Joe King, Matt Barnett, and Michael Connell will serve as pallbearers.
