Annie Virginia McMillan

Annie Virginia McMillan passed away May 8, 2022. She was born on May 11, 1928, near Winnfield, La. Her parents were Mathew Max Allen and Martha Annie (Wright) Allen. Her ancestors were among the earliest settlers of Winn Parish. She grew up on a farm near the town of Winnfield. She was predeceased by three sisters, Doris Kraft, Josie Porter, and Lois Smith; and by six brothers, R.C. Allen, Henry Earl Allen, J.L. Allen, Lonnie Max Allen, Jamie Bennet Allen, and Marvin Allen. After completing high school in Winnfield, she graduated from Northwestern State University with a BS in Home Economics. Working in parishes in north Louisiana as Home Demonstration Agent, she met and married Chester McMillan. They were married for 53 years. They lived in the Chicago area until 1967, when they made their home in Little Rock, Ark. Chester passed away in 2005. Survivors are Dr. Kathleen McMillan and Allen McMillan of Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews. Annie's greatest joy was her family and friends. She always made family and friends welcome in her home. Annie was a committed and faithful Presbyterian. In 1978 Chester and Annie joined the Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church and they both served as Deacons and were active in all phases of church work. Annie taught cooking classes at Arkansas Enterprises for the Blind, and served as the manager of the Yellow Daisy Tea Room in the Heights to benefit Youth Home, Inc. She served for many years on the Presbyterian Village Auxiliary Board, Brady Extension Home Makers Club, and the Fine Arts Club of First Christian Church. In 2017 Annie was recognized for being a member of the Little Rock Centennial DAR chapter for 30 years. Annie was also an accomplished sewist and award-winning quilter. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 pm at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Pinecrest Memorial Park at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022.
