Mary Lois Rice, 97, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, J. (Bill) Rice and is survived by their three children: Eileen Tollett, Charles R. (Bob) Rice, and Roy E. Rice; six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
She was the daughter of Troy and Florence Carroll. She was born in England, Ark., and moved to Lonoke as a young girl. She had three sisters and two brothers. She graduated from Lonoke High School in 1942, and attended a 2-year liberal arts school in Conway, where she studied music, played piano, and sang in the choir which traveled throughout Arkansas. She married Bill in 1946. She served for several years as the Lonoke County Treasurer. She was a member of the Lonoke Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 at Boyd Funeral Home. Services will be at Boyd Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 13. Interment will follow at the Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery in Furlow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lonoke Baptist Church or to a charity of choice.
