Charles Francis Fowler, age 95 years, of Springdale, died Monday, May 16, at Northwest Medical Center. He was born March 26, 1927, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Charles E. and Audrey Recer Fowler. Charlie served in the Army during WWII at Ft. Knox. "Charlie" was retired from the City of Springdale Street department, played golf, kept an immaculate lawn, and was a champion baseball player at the Springdale Senior Center. He is fondly remembered for wearing crisp overalls, a ball cap perched high atop his head, treating his grandkids to cookies at the mall, and his iconic laugh. Perhaps most notably, Charlie was adored by many. He married Dorothy Spruiell, July 29, 1950, and was preceded in death by his sweetheart of 59 years. Charlie is survived by his beloved companion of 10 years, Jody Blakemore, nieces and nephews, and dear friends Mari Alice Sence and Marjie and Danny Coleman. He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was the most wonderful "Bampah" to Jo Beth, Spencer, Louie, and Peter Saulsbury, David and Hillery Sence, Sarah Coleman Allen, Andy, Samantha Kennedy, Drew, and Charlotte Coleman, Wesley, Alyson, and Adelynn Blakemore, Robbie Bertschy, and Kyle and Andrea Fowler. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 19, at 11 a.m., at Westfield Chapel in Springdale. Private burial will be held at Mount Hebron Cemetery. Online condolences: www.WestfieldChapel.com
