Winifred Jewel Hare Herring

Winifred Jewel Hare Herring, age 86, of Springdale, Ark., passed from this life Wednesday, May 18, 2022. She was born February 20, 1936, in Vanndale, Ark., to the late Thelma and Leon Hare. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Tony Delano Herring and her brother, Tommie Hare. Winsy was a graduate of Arkansas State University. She married the love of her life, a handsome Air Force officer in 1957. After completing his service, they settled in West Memphis, where both their daughters were born. She loved her career as a teacher, guiding students in West Memphis, Newport, and Van Buren. Winsy was a faithful Christian and a member of First United Methodist Church, Fort Smith. She spent her last years in Arkanshire, a retirement community in Springdale. Survivors are her daughters, Holly Ruddell (Joe) of Fayetteville and Heather Wood (Mike) of Hot Springs, as well as grandchildren, Katie Ruddell, Reese Ruddell, Walker Wood, and Campbell Wood. A private family graveside service will be held at Vanndale Cemetery on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
