James Ruel Landis, 86, of Springdale, Ark., died peacefully Monday, May 23, 2022, at Shiloh Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Springdale, Ark. Born August 15, 1935, in Bald Knob, Ark., he was the son of the late Albert Arthur and Mary Marie Landis. He graduated from Judsonia High School in 1953. He obtained an associate degree from Arkansas State University in Beebe. He also served in the United States Army for two years and went on to pursue a professional career involving transportation and multiple entrepreneurial endeavors. A highlight of his professional career was a "Carrier of the Year" award from Owens Corning. Although he took his businesses very serious, they never took priority over his love for Christ and his family. He lived in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Florida, and was very active in the Assemblies of God in each community. He had a gift of serving in the body of Christ in several leadership roles and also ministered through his love of music. He is survived by daughter, Pam Everett and husband, Chuck, of Fort Mill, S.C.; son, James Keith Landis and wife, Missy, of Springdale, Ark.; four grandchildren and spouses, Amber Dixon and husband Steven, Megan Evans and husband Dustin, Matthew Landis and wife Kersten, Michael Landis and wife Kyndale; and Amy Landis (wife of the late Trinity Landis); seven great-grandchildren, Styler Emison, Ella Dixon, Drew Evans, Everett Dixon, Jase Evans, Drake Evans, and Luke Landis. He is also survived by one brother, Lynn Landis; and one sister, Juanita Conley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Nell Landis; his parents, A.A. and Marie Landis; brother, Gary Landis; brother, Dale Landis; and grandson, James Trinity Landis. During his lifetime, he expressed love and kindness through his joy in music and his servant's heart. He had a special gift and ability to make you feel accepted and loved. He could turn any situation into a treasured memory. He never met a stranger. He found great joy in making lifelong memories with his family. He could tell a story or write a song and have everyone singing along in minutes. A celebration of life service will be held at First Assembly of God Church, Fayetteville, Ark., at 2 p.m., on Friday with internment and a graveside service at Foster's Chapel in Searcy, Ark., at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
