Willis B. Winston

In Memory of Willis B. Winston. Mr. Winston passed away on May 20, 2022, at the age of 69. Born June 19, 1952, in Pine Bluff, Ark., son of James and Catherine Winston. Willis is survived by his brother, James H. Winston and sister, Mary C. Welch. Academic journey began with graduation from Dollarway High School in 1970. Willis Winston went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and 1985 with a Masters in Secondary Education. Mr. Winston accolades include certified gifted and talented teacher/administrator. Passionate and dedicated educator for 46 years. Science consultant for AR AIMS (Arkansas Advanced Initiative in Math and Science). Special Recognition Award from College Board for his work with middle school teacher training in 2004. Willis shared his love of learning and desire for teaching by encouraging students to achieve success with open opportunities, using his sense of humor, creativity and enthusiasm. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, James and Catherine Winston, his sister, Linda Winston Sharp, Frances Cato Wills and Steven Lilly. He had many nieces and nephews. Willis will be missed by his lifelong friends, John Canfield, Dorothy Gantz, Sarah Mayfield, Susan Ames and many others.
