Bennie Don "Bink" Spigner, 86, of Ashdown, Ark., passed away on the golf course at Little River County Club in Winthrop, Ark., on October 28, 2022. He was born April 8, 1936 in Ben Lomond, Ark., to Bennie Wesley and Ruby Maude Walker Spigner. Bink graduated from Ashdown High School Class of 1953. He attended Texarkana Junior College, where he played baseball for the Bulldogs. He continued his education at Henderson State Teachers College where he played football and baseball for the Reddies, graduating in 1958. He was hired by Liberty Eylau School District as a coach and teacher, spending 11 years there. After spending 13 years in private business (Spigner's 7-11), he returned to coaching at Ashdown Schools. He spent many years involved with and coaching in youth baseball in Ashdown, serving on boards to build the baseball complex and YMCA. He had a deep love for his players and students forming friendships that have lasted a lifetime. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Glenn Spigner; brother-in-law, Pat Dellinger; nephew, Butch Dellinger; and his in-laws, Challie and Martha Cook. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Daisy Dean; his son, Donnie and wife Dawn of Ashdown, Ark., his son, Lance of Mena, Ark.; and his grandsons, Zac and Cole of Ashdown. Also surviving, his brother, C. T. (Tony) Spigner and wife, Vyvian; his sister, Susie Dellinger and sister-in-law, Marsha Spigner, all of Ashdown, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 2nd at 2 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Ashdown, with Brother Butch Riddle, Brother Jim Cross and Brother Bill Wardlaw. A visitation reception will be held immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. A scholarship fund in memory of Bink Spigner has been established at all Horatio State Banks (Ashdown, Horatio and Foreman).
