Photo of Therman L. Scott, Jr.
Therman L. Scott, Jr. was born in January, 1947, and passed away in October, 2022, in Little Rock, Ark. In 1963, he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Burt. They married, raised two children together, and celebrated 53 years of marriage in September. After graduating Horace Mann High School, Scott volunteered to join the U.S. Navy and completed three combat deployments to Vietnam before his Honorable Discharge. He was a faithful member and Deacon of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Scott was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished time spent with his siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He loved to tell jokes and reminisce. Scott delighted in identifying family and community connections with people he met. He worked for decades as a driver for Trailways, Greyhound, the Little Rock School District, and Central Arkansas Transit. Scott had an encyclopedic knowledge of cars and welcomed every opportunity to discuss them. If you had time to spare, he had a story to share. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Christopher (Kim) Scott of Conway, and Lela Scott of Virginia; grandchildren, Morgan Bouwhuis and Jacob Scott; and sister, Elizabeth (Jerry) Shaheed. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. November 8, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church at the corner of Roosevelt and Main Streets. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Online guestbook: www.smithfamilycares.com
