James Lendal Wilks, 92, of Rogers passed away surrounded by his family Oct. 30, 2022, at his home in Rogers. He was born April 2, 1930, in Bentonville, Texas the son of the late Evert and Florence Langford Wilks. Lendal was ordained as a minister of the Church of Christ at the age of 20. He dedicated the remainder of his life to the Lord's work, 36 of those years as a missionary working in Malawi, Africa. Lendal enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Cooper Wilks; his children, Mavis Wilks, Lugene (Genie) Lovell and husband Tony, Kelvin Wilks and wife Tina and Melanie Wilks; his siblings, Wayne Wilks and wife Pat, Douglas Wilks and wife Chris, Darwin Wilks, and wife Martha; grandchildren, Tina Wellesley and husband J.D., James Lovell and wife Sara, Shane Lovell and wife Ashley, Jessica Wilks, Kaleb Wilks, Justin Davis, Meagan Ward and Lindsay Langford and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Visitation: Nov. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., at 20th Street Church of Christ, 304 S 20th St, Rogers. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Namikango Missions or Hazel Dell Church of Christ, Thiesen Malawi Account c/o the funeral home.
