James Taylor

James "Jim" Patrick Brennan Taylor reposed in the Lord on November 10, 2022. He was the only child of Fred H. and Margaret Patricia (Pat) Taylor, born in Denver, Colo., on January 10, 1954. Jim spent most of his childhood in Wichita, Kan.. where he attended Kapun Mount Carmel High School and was president of his senior class. He discovered a love for theatre and a talent for the backstage elements of the craft while an undergrad at Colorado College. He then completed a MFA at Southern Methodist University. In over 40 years of teaching theatre craft, he was a professor at the University of Arkansas Little Rock, Drake University, and Grinnell College before landing at Pomona College for the past 30 years. At the end of his career, he found great satisfaction developing and teaching a course about Climate Change Theatre. His hobbies included golf, fishing, and international travel. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his first wife, Mary (Twedt) Cantrell; and their daughter, Brennan Straka, whose family includes son-in-law, Andrew, step-grandson, Glen, and grandson, Malcolm. He is also survived by former wife, Rosalie "Sallie" Canda Taylor, and her daughter, Francesca "Cesca" Canda. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, at Benton County Memorial Park. Funeral services will be held at St. John of Chicago Orthodox Church in Rogers, Ark., at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, with interment to follow. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.
