Mary Roy Moses died peacefully in her home during the night of Wednesday, November 16, 2022. She was born in Hope, Ark., on January 15, 1927, to Fonzie Roy Moses and Mary F. Moses. Mary Roy was above all else, a devoted Christian, teacher, friend to many, and the epitome of a classic southern lady. She loved all things cerebral- crossword puzzles, bridge and all manner of card games. She volunteered at the Hope Public library for decades and was an avid reader. Mary Roy was a member of garden club, bridge club, and PEO whose purpose was to aid women to finish their degree. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1949 with an undergraduate degree in education and later obtained her master's degree in the same field from Henderson State University. After living and working in Louisiana during her early career, she returned to Hope and served as an English teacher for more than 35 years. She was active in the First Baptist Church and held a position on its staff until recently. Mary Roy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bill. Guests will be received on Wednesday November 23, 2022, from 5-7 p.m., at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street, Hope, Ark. After a grave side burial by the family, a memorial service and a reception will be held at the First Baptist Church, Hope, Ark., on Friday, November 25th at 2 p.m. Special thanks to those who cared for her through deed and service in the last years of her life. Her life was made richer because of your devotion.
