Betty Ann Word

Betty Ann Word, age 92, passed from this life on November 27, 2022. She was born on June 17, 1930, to Jess Williams and Anna Lee Bell Williams. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Bearden. Along with her husband and sons, she owned and operated retail stores in south Arkansas for over 50 years. She loved serving her community and visiting with her customers and friends. She recently retired at the age of 91. She is also well-known for her skill as a bridge player. She cherished the friends that made up her local bridge group, and especially enjoyed hosting them at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.E. Word; sons, Phil and Steve Word, and her brother, Don Williams. She is survived by her sister, Callie Andrews; brother, Johnny Williams; daughter-in-law, Lynn Word; grandchildren, Mark (Michelle) Word, Drew (Veronica) Word, Tracy (Jason) Langdon, Steven (Kelly) Word, Andrew (Heather) Word, Matthew (Ashley) Word, Rebekah (Daniel) Castleberry; great -grandchildren, Carson Langdon, Kate Langdon, Griffin Word, Abby Word, Caleb Word, Luke Word, Shylah Word, Hadlee Word, Rhett Word, Nora Castleberry; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 28th, at Moss Hill Cemetery in Bearden with Pastor Steven Word officiating. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
