Andrew "Drew" Ponder, Jr.

Andrew "Drew" Ponder, Jr., 76 of Batesville, Ark., died on October 1, 2022. He was born on March 22, 1946. in Waco, Texas, to Judge Andrew Gant Ponder, Sr. and Maurelle Pickens Ponder. His greatest joy in life was music. He managed several locations of Davey's Locker record stores, and worked for CBS records in Nashville for several years, and he wrote songs and poetry. He enjoyed his dogs, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and growing his impressive collection of vinyl records. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ansel Rhodes Ponder; a daughter, Maurie Ponder, and son-in-law Paul Dowell; granddaughters, Daisy and Ellie Dowell; brother, Gilbert Pickens Ponder; and mother-in-law, Ann Rhodes. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 7, 2022, at 3 p.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 424 E. Main St., Batesville, Ark., with The Reverend Jim McDonald officiating. A reception will follow services in St. Paul's parish hall.
