SAMUEL HARRIS PIAZZA was born on November 15, 1999 to Chris and Melody Piazza. He left us way too soon on October 5, 2022. Sam was a 2018 graduate of Catholic High School for Boys where he played on the tennis team all four years and was a member of the Broadcast/journalism team. Upon graduation Sam attended the University of the South at Sewanee, Tenn., where he was studying economics. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and loved all of the friends he made there. Every summer from the time he was old enough, Sam and his best friend and cousin, Brandon Dobbins spent two weeks at Camp Winnamocka "Where Adventure Begins". When he became too old to be a camper, he took on the role of camp counselor ensuring other young campers had the same great experiences he did there. Sam learned to snow ski at an early age and loved spending spring breaks on the mountains in Utah or Colorado chasing his friends down the slopes. But the vacation he loved the most was spending a week at the beach with his older brothers Jason and Alex and eventually Jason's wife, Anna, who joined our crew and who Sam absolutely adored. Sam was a lover of travel having joined his parents and close friends for a trip to Italy when he was only 10 that prompted his continued desire to explore new places later traveling with his parents to Paris after graduation. Recently he had traveled to Costa Rica where he fell in love with the scenery and the food. Sam learned to cook at an early age and loved making fancy meals for his parents and his beloved Avery while leaving an extravagant mess behind for his sous chef and mother to clean up. Sam loved movies and quirky television having watched "The Office" too many times to count. He was an avid devotee to the Star Wars franchise having been indoctrinated at an early age by his brother, Jason. He spent countless hours watching movies of all kinds with his girlfriend, Avery, and would pass on heartfelt recommendations to his parents and friends. He loved music of all kinds, and occasionally could be caught listening to the music he grew up listening to on his parent's radio. Sam was curious and thoughtful and could hold the most interesting conversations on the most surprising topics. The people most surprised were his parents who were always genuinely amazed by his in-depth knowledge on the most obscure subjects. Sam loved all of his family dearly and relished the holidays when his brothers would be home and the house would fill up with aunts, uncles and cousins and a few extra puppies. Sam was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral where he served as an acolyte for five years. Sam is survived by his parents, Chris and Melody Piazza of Little Rock, his brother Jason of Fayetteville (Anna), his brother, Alex of Little Rock, his extended family including his aunts Myra Huth (Tom), Peggy DuVall (Twig Satterfield), Marilyn Harrison (Al), Ileana Dobbins (Alan), Heather Piazza, his uncle Bobby Harris (Vesta), his cousin and best friend, Brandon Dobbins, his cousin, Andrew and a whole host of cousins here and in Puerto Rico. Sam also leaves behind his beloved Avery who he adored from the minute he met her. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sam and Francis Piazza of Little Rock and his maternal grandparents, Bob and Gloria Harris of Hamburg, and his Uncle David Piazza of Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Youth Home, INC. where Sam worked this past summer before heading back to school. Sam developed great compassion for the children there and quietly rooted for their success. "May he dwell forever with the Saints in light" Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, October 13th at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 310 W. 17th Street, Little Rock.
