Mary Lou Booker Meaher, 73, died unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on October 2nd, 2022, at her home in Mobile. Although she spent the last 49 years of her life in Mobile, she spent her childhood years in El Dorado, Ark., graduating from El Dorado High School in 1966. She went on to obtain degrees from Arkansas State University, the College of William and Mary, and Emory University.
Mrs. Meaher was an avid preservationist and tenacious and tireless when supporting causes she valued. Her most notable accomplishment was the care of her historic home, The Georgia Cottage, which she shared with her community.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Sadie Booker.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Augustine Meaher III; and their six children, Four Meaher (Kadi), Meg Meaher, Annie Meaher, Sarah Meaher, Helen Meaher, and Sadie Meaher Wright (Josh). She is also survived by her brother, Bill Booker (Carolyn) of Little Rock; and her sister, Sara Booker Finnell of El Dorado. Interment was at Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile.
