Carolyn Diana Jones

Carolyn Diana Jones, of Grimes, Iowa, lost her battle with lung cancer on September 18, 2022, surrounded by the people she brought joy to every day. Carolyn was a beacon of compassion and generosity. She began her life in California, grew up in Arkansas, and went around the world to Australia before ending her journey in Iowa. But no matter where life took her, she created a home for her family wherever they landed. Carolyn was born into a military family on December 3, 1959, at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California to Raymond and Lillie Schick. Her father was stationed at bases across the U.S. and in Greece. After retirement from the Air Force, the family made their forever home in Pine Bluff, Ark., where Carolyn graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1977. After graduation, she began a career at Simmons Bank in Pine Bluff where she rose to become an officer of the bank. While at the bank, she met and married the love of her life, Thomas F. Jones, Jr., originally from Dumas, Ark. They were married for 38 years. They had a wonderful life together traveling around the world to Australia before ending their journey together in Grimes, Iowa. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Jones, Jr., of Grimes, Iowa; son, Thomas Ryan Jones (Rebekah) of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter, Amanda Jones Goodman (Brandon); granddaughter, Charlotte, of Houston, Texas, mother, Lillie Schick; sister, Rebecca Moore (David) of Pine Bluff, Ark.; and nephew, Jonathan Moore (Katherine) of Los Angeles, Calif.' and mother-in-law, Sue Jones of Dumas, Ark. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Schick. A private memorial service for family and friends was held on September 20, 2022, at their farm in Menlo, Iowa.
