After a full, rich, and devoted life to family and friends, EVELYN CHRISTINE TINKLE SAMPLEY gained her heavenly wings on Oct. 19, 2022, at the age of 97. She was born on July 15, 1925, and was the oldest of her siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents; Goldie & Earle Tinkle, sisters Henri, Earlene, and Grace; brothers, Bill, Albert, Waldon, Pete, and Charles; her children, James (Mary Sue) and Carolyn; and grandchildren, Shane and David. She is survived by brothers Doug (Helen), and Rick (Donna); her children, Homer (Pat, deceased) and Lucy (Ron, deceased); and daughter-in-law, Mary Sue. Evelyn was a loving grandmother to Michael, Missy, Debbie, Bobby, and Greg, who always loved being at her table, enjoying her wonderful cooking and stories of growing up on the farm. She also cherished her many great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In the summer she loved canning fresh fruits and vegetables, and fishing; in the winter she made quilts for her family and friends. Year-round she always had a seat at the table for everyone to enjoy a meal. For many years, Evelyn was a homemaker until she went to work at Timex. Even though she didn't drive, she always made it to work thanks to co-workers and her best friend Betty Lynch. She also had a very cherished relationship with Tiffany, whom she held as one of her grandchildren and they spent many hours enjoying each other's company. We know Evelyn and the family will always be grateful for the relationship, love, and care Tiffany had with her. Evelyn was an active member of Sherwood First Church of the Nazarene and had a close relationship with Pastor Jeff and Donna. The family is so grateful to Pastor Jeff and Donna for the many visits and prayers during this time. We would also like to thank the hospice unit at Baptist Hospital for their tender care and support of our family and loved one. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 5-7 p.m., and funeral services Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m., both at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd, North Little Rock. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sherwood First Church of the Nazarene. An online guestbook is available at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/owens.
