Dorothy Morgan Horne, 94, of Conway, Ark., passed peacefully into the Lord's arms on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Salem Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Conway, Ark. She was born on January 10, 1928 in Little Rock, Ark., to John Morgan and Ruth McDonald Morgan. After graduation from Joe T. Robinson High School, she attended Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked for 10 years in a private medical practice for Dr. Sparks and Dr. McClain, and 30 years at Baptist Medical Center, retiring in 1990 as the Director of Surgical Nursing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Bobby "Buddy" Horne; sisters, Doris Ward, Tressie Jean Stockwell, and Frances Touchard; and brother, John Morgan. She is survived by her daughter, Gena Croft (Tim); grandson Jeremy Croft; nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 70 years, where she was active in several of the church's ministries. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, watching birds, traveling with friends from church, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Garden Club, Sewing Club, and volunteered several years at Meals on Wheels. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Salem Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the kindness and loving care extended to Mrs. Horne during her residency over the past nine months. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022 in the Chapel at Immanuel Baptist Church, Little Rock, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Seniors Ministry Program at Immanuel Baptist Church, Meals on Wheels, or a favorite charity.
