Jacquelyn Marie Keefe Smith passed away peacefully on September 12, 2022. Jacquelyn (Jackee) was born January 6, 1930, in Somerville, Mass., to John J. and Gertrude M. (Youd) Keefe. She is survived by her sister, Charlotte Briesch, and Charlotte's husband, Earl Briesch; children, Pamela S. Spann and husband Michael L. Spann, Kim S. Perry, Todd Yvega, and wife, Cheryl L. Frees, Wendy A. Smith, Scott S. Smith and wife Min Smith; grandchildren, Ryan M. Yvega and wife Elba M.Yvega, Benjamin D. Perry, Jacob K. Perry, Spyder D. Spann, Caitlin R. Perry, Samantha S. McCormick, and husband Charles McCormick IV; and great-grandchildren, Sandra I. Yvega and Nicholas M. Yvega. Jackee was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Dorothy Majewski. Jackee graduated from Winchester High School in 1947 and earned a BA from Boston University in Art in 1951, where she performed with the glee club and was a drum majorette. She went on to earn a Masters in Special Education later in life and became a strong advocate for the Special Needs community. Jackee had a long career teaching art and special education in the public school system. After retiring from teaching, Jackee continued to volunteer in the areas of literacy and special needs for the remainder of her life. She received many awards for her contributions to the community. Jackee maintained her love for music, art, travel, education, and culture throughout her life, particularly in the company of her wide circle of friends. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 24th at the Lodge at Butterfield Trail Village.
