Carla Jean Smith

Carla Jean Smith, 78, died on Monday, September 12, 2022, at her home in Springdale, Ark. Carla was born April 25, 1944, in Bentonville, Arkansas, to James Walker and Norma Adell Deason. She attended Bentonville High School and was a life-long resident of NWA. Outside of home, she worked for decades at Mary Maestri's as well as several years in the Traffic department at Walmart, but the role to which she was most dedicated was being the linchpin of her family. Carla is survived by her husband of 56 years, Royce; her son, Garry Smith (and Karen); her daughter, Shannon Mader (and Mike); two step-sons, Rick Smith (and Melissa), Mark Linker (and Donna); and her niece, Karen Sears. She is also survived by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a nephew and great-niece. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Kent Deason and her grand-daughter, Courtney Niccole Smith. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
