Thomas R. "Butch" Johns, 77, of Cabot, was born on July 1, 1945 and went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Johns, his children, Jill (Kris) Shinn, Julie (Jon) Dibee, Jeffery (Deshaun) Reynolds and Kristin (Russell) Stark, his grandchildren, Collin Shaddox, Madd Shaddox, Amanda (Brandon) Locknar, Madelyn Dibee, Anna Weir, Knowledge Reynolds, Sterling Stark, Channing Stark, and Ryling Stark, and his brother, Jerry Johns. He was preceded in death by his parents Norvell and Aleen Johns. Butch had a love for fishing and sports that he shared with his family. He coached his daughters and grandchildren in a variety of sports, undeterred by the fact that none of us were any good at them. Butch loved a good joke and greeted everyone with "Merry Christmas" all year long, except on Christmas, when he would wish you a Happy Halloween. He never let a guest leave his house without a vegetable or a flower from his garden. Butch loved babies and was great with kids, regaling his grandchildren with stories about big toes and sometimes making us a little too scared. He served as a member of the Army reserve for six years and was also the Director of the Northside YMCA and owned his own business, Thomas Lawn Care. Butch was loving and playful to the last of his days, going out of his way to make everyone smile. He was deeply proud of his family and has found peace in the legacy they will leave for him. Merry Christmas to all. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with Brother Robert Kelly officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m., at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
