Alfred Thomas Strange

Mr. Alfred T. Strange, 80, of Redfield, Ark., passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born August 5, 1942, to the late Rena Mae Lowder and Edward Strange. Tom was a member and deacon of Redfield Missionary Baptist Church and a loving father and grandfather. He was known for his strong faith and his love of family, community and friends. He was always available and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Before his retirement in 2015, Tom established his business, S&W Produce in Stuttgart, Ark., and built that business which became recognized for 50 years as a nostalgic mark in Stuttgart and surrounding communities for its friendly and reliable service and a welcoming place just to hang out and visit. His many years of achievements through hard work were well known and reflected in smiles on the faces who heard his name and the love and support he helped to instill in his family and friends. Tom is survived by his wife. Vera Eagle Strange; one son, Thomas Strange (John); two daughters, Deborah Gray (Steve) and Amanda Fortner (Joe); two sisters, Mary E. Davis (William) and Rebecca L. Roberson (Bob); and one brother, Lester L. Pulley, as well as a host of many close and dear grandchildren and family members. Preceding him in death were his previous wife of 40 years, Carlyon Strange; son, Doyle E. Strange; two grandsons, Joseph T. Atkins and Daniel Ruffin; stepson, Danny Ruffin; two sisters, Joyce Louder and Linda K. Louder; and a special sister-in-law, Jeannie Simpson. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Chris Gage and Bro. David Inzer, are 1 p.m., Friday at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart with visitation from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Burial will follow in Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart.
