Charles Ray "Charlie" Schmieder, 86, of Conway, formerly of White Hall, died Monday, September 26, 2022. He was born July 16, 1936 in Texarkana, Ark., son of Frank Adolph Schmieder and Vivian Mavis Eaton Lambert. Charlie was reared and received his early education in Texarkana, graduating from St. Edwards Catholic School in 1954. He served in the United States Navy from June of 1954 until July of 1957. After his military service, Charlie attended St. Edwards University from 1957 until 1959. He later earned a bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in 1980. He served in the reserves of the United States Army and Navy, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. Charlie was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served as a lay reader, valued member of the choir and vestry and senior warden. He was a member of the White Hall Lions Club, where he held offices of President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer. While his daughters were in high school, Charlie served as the chairman of Choir Happening for two years and a term as president of the White Hall Choir Parents Club. He worked for NCTR for nearly 30 years, retiring as a research technologist. Charlie was a member of American Association of Laboratory Animal Science and member of the Laboratory Animal Management Association. After moving to Conway, Charlie attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church and was an active participant at the Ola and John Hawks Senior Center. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ethel Mae "Beebe" Taylor Schmieder, whom he married January 2, 1962 in Warren, Ark. Survivors include his two daughters, Hollie Wiley (Eugene) of Pine Bluff and Kari Montgomery of Conway; sister, Nelda Anderson of Benton; four grandchildren, Ashley McClellan, Mary Lynn Heffington, Jacob Chapman and Holden Wiley; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Kennedy, Ranger McClellan and Sadie Wiley. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father Greg Warren officiating by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9 a.m., until service time in the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church.
